How To Make a Spring Wreath; Step By Step Guide
You’ll want to start with a base. Our favorite base is a grapevine wreath because it is easier to poke your stems into it without using glue. Often times you won’t need hot glue. If you are using a foam base you will want to use hot glue to apply your greenery.
We’re going to collect a number of different stems to work with. For example on this hydrangea wreath we used hydrangeas, peonies, green leaves, small white flowers, and pink stems. We of course added eggs to make this more of an Easter spring wreath. You’ll begin with placing the green foliage in first. That will be kind of your base.Â
Lambs Ear Wreath
Once you have quite a bit of greenery down on the wreath you will want to start placing your floral stems. This is where you can get really creative! I don’t always do a wreath where the floral goes all the way around. Sometimes I like to place the florals to one side as you can see in the photo above and below.

Something to be aware of is if you cut your stems too short you will want to use hot glue to keep them in place. If you have really long stems make sure they don’t poke through the back. I just place the long stems at an angle.Â
Wreaths are also great to hang above your mantel. We have a post on the best spring mantel trends that will help you get some inspiration.
Front Door Wreath
Spring wreath for your front door is a great way to welcome guests and make it feel inviting. All of the wreaths we make can be used on your front door. The rain doesn’t affect the flowers or the grapevine wreath base, so you’re fine there! You can hang it in your entry way, above a mirror. There’s so many places you can hang up a wreath to brighten up a space and make it look more cheery. If you want even more wreaths to look at, take a look at our spring wreath ideas.

You don’t actually need a piece of wire to hang up your wreath. Just put the nail or screw right into your wall and hang the wreath from that. But if you do want a hanger can make a knot out of wire. A fun way to hang your wreath is by ribbon. I found a great tutorial on how to make bow for your wreath. Just in time for Valentines Day, a heart wreath. I have all the details for this wreath in our DIY Heart Wreath Tutorial.
