How To Make Relaxed Easy Farmhouse Style Home with Kids
Are you like me that you love a beautifully styled home but the kids keep wrecking it? We have seven kids so the struggle is real! Okay two are out of the house now, but these other five can leave a mess behind. I have learned a few things that may just help you on How To Make Relaxed Easy Farmhouse Style Home with Kids.
Big tip number 1 – Storage!! This old chippy trunk that I milk painted, opens up to hold extra things like pillows, blankets, toys or books. Things that I don’t use very often. The kids can sit on this and put their feet up on it, so I think it’s super easy. It’ll be for sale in my shop soon or check Etsy here for more options.
You see that french cabinet? That is extra storage as well as under the stairs. Hubby built shelves to hold extra pillows and decor. Sometimes with extra kids or company over, then I will simplify my decor and put the breakables away so they don’t get broken. Why bother? Because during the week, I want my house to be a beautiful relaxing place to be with items that I love. I also made the blue stripe pillow with leather ties to make it more of a coastal vibe, click shop link here.

My current obsessions are these throw Pom pom blankets and pillows. The basket is also available in shop. Find my pom pom tutorial here.
Real life right here! A couch full of pillows and the kids will just sit right on top. I actually don’t mind as I will fluff them back up when I get the time. Target has a large selection of pillows and you can mix and match to make life easy. It’s easy to spend more money when hunting from store to store.
Tip number – 2 is wood decor pieces. This wood tray and home decor beads got painted for a coastal vibe without worrying the kids would break them. The glass hurricane can be set up on the mantle when company comes.

Do you like to chalk paint? I have a great resource page on the blog with this new book from Amy Howard as well as my most used paint products. I do have a few YouTube videos if you’d like to see how easy this is. Knowing how busy life is and sometimes the mess of painting is just to much! So no worries, I will give shopping links to make your life easier. For the table I used a milk paint and for the tray I used her chalk paint. Affiliate links are used below, so you can shop!
Our custom linen duvet cover was used to cover the cushion on this french couch. You can just tuck it in and remove to wash as needed. Talk about How To Make Relaxed Easy Farmhouse Style Home with Kids. Oh and make sure you have the kids clean up after themselves. Once the habit is set, then it really is easier to get them to pitch in when the whole house has gone messy.
