With more requests coming in for design tips and outdoor settings, I thought I’d show you how I designed our small back yard patio into a cozy Sophisticated Bohemian Outdoor Setting. It’s been a while since our last outdoor update, so it was definitely time for a refresh! Keep on reading to get some more outdoor patio ideas from some great ladies below.

Sophisticated Bohemian Outdoor Setting

I found this cute boho chair by Article and built around it as our focal point. When I saw this Daisy Lounge Chair I knew I absolutely needed it! Then I chose the round Teak Coffee Table but needed to balance off the two round pieces by adding a rectangle bench.

The bench was old weathered wood in chippy black so I gave it a face lift with some Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint in hurricane grey. This is one of my favorite sophisticated colors. It pairs nicely with woods, whites and even a splash of color. When using outdoors, I would seal with a clear wax to repel moisture.

Once the foundation pieces are set then it comes time for accessories. This is the fun part like what blanket works great outdoors and what pieces are needed. For me candles and lighting are a must. We have lots of yard lights. Mr Hallstrom says I have a problem and I’m thinking it’s all good. Because I mean come on a girl can’t have too many lights. The boho look is something that is so cute and pretty. I just updated the girls room with a fun bohemian theme.

Choosing lighting

Lighting is one of my favorite pieces to add. The flickering of candles casts a soft cozy glow over one’s area. I then added a throw for the evenings that have a slight chill. Choosing the right plants

Using lots of plants in your bohemian outdoor setting is key. Texture is also a must have like ferns and sedums. These are more drought resist which works great for my black thumb.
